Using generative AI like Midjourney to create trees or other foilage for Unreal Engine 🌲
Before you roast me in the commets 😅:
1. I know, that the material setup can be improved by generating a normal map and using subsurface scattering. If you have the time and patience to explain it in the comments or a link to a tutorial, feel free to share it :)
2. Please don't tell me the title is clickbait because I didn't create a real 3D model of the trees. Using billboards as trees is a very old but still very common way to populate large scale environments 😃

    Hdri background is resolution capped, so if you want it to be a very high resolution it wont be this.

    Hi man! I hope you're doing well, I followed the same workflow as you did. But when I imported the fbx file in unreal engine, the foliage brush is not working, I wanted foliage system to scatter tress on my scene. Is there any fix to this issue, I'll really appreciate your help.

    Probably dumb question, but would you be able to walk around with the UE5 default character there using this workflow? I mean, wouldn't this fbx import import meshes that you would just fall through?

      Hey I've the same question. I followed this workflow but it seems my foliage brush is not working on the mesh. I'd really appreciate if you know any solution to this particular issue as this is annoying for me . I'm using foliage system to scatter tress on my scene

    How do the normals/collisions come in correctly? My character falls through the floor. Is it because you deleted the cube face at the beginning? We need the technical deets!!!

    0:55 - Everything just looks better when you measure and use real architectural principles. Just sayin'... It brings your work from "looks like _above average_ game art" ---> "Wow!" When someone is as *good as you already,* there's really no reason not to bump it up to the next level that most others will never even come close to.

    Just a heads up. When you add the HDRI sky to the Skylight component the rotation value isn't linked to the main HDRI backdrop component, so when you go back and rotate the Backdrop, the lighting from the HDRI no longer updates. Is there a way to link these 2 rotational values?

    i could not get the Temperate Vegetation to work with lumen when i was trying it, in places where the sun doesn't directly shine on the trees, they get almost pitch black and the darkness becomes "bigger" the closer you are to the trees
